Web Marketing Help For Online Business Since 2003
I created my first eCommerce website in the summer of 2000. At
that time the Internet was just starting to come of age as marketing tool. I
was an experienced engineer armed with the skill and knowledge of an
Internet that we had used as an information portal for the past 10 years.
Little did I know at the time that my casual entrance into the world of
Internet Marketing would be one of the most fantastic journeys of my
lifetime.
I'm a versatile and fearless career adventurer. After all,
I had already had a successful career as a Biomedical Engineer working on
pioneering technology such as the Artificial Heart. Next I tried my hand a
Trading Stock for few years. Now I was weathering the market correction of
early that year. With the dot.coms going bust on a daily basis, I did the
one thing that any successful securities investor does. I jumped into the
Internet Market when opinion is at it's lowest ebb.
I needed some quick cash. I figured the Internet with it's
reach to then 100's of thousands of people should be an easy nut to crack. I
used the same formula that almost everyone used at the time. I got my
merchant account, identified my suppliers, and built my site. I used my
technical expertise to put this together. Other's floated stock IPOs for
millions to pay programmers and suppliers. And Marketing? Well those with
the IPOs used the tried and true formulas of established big buck Madison
Avenue advertising firms. Those of us on lower budgets submitted our sites
to the few existing search engines and waited for our customers.
I remember the excitement of the first few days my site
was up. I had literally stayed up, going without sleep, around the clock
programming the site anticipating every detail needed to deal with an
onslaught of 1000s of new customers. I waited and checked my email, I got
some sleep and waited and checked my email and merchant account again the
next day. Nothing. I waited, checked all the technical parameters of the
site to be sure it was on line. I checked again and again... Nothing!
The realization that my idea was somehow flawed was a horrible sinking
feeling. I'm sure the rocket scientists of the early space race must have
felt the same way. We've all seen those grainy news clips of rocket after
rocket attempting lift off only fall to earth in a spectacular explosion.
The journey had just begun. I am by nature a scientist.
Scientists create things from ideas. They hypothesize how things work and
then check their hypothesis in the real world by test and measurement. They
learn from their mistakes and reinvent their ideas. I had experienced
failure before and knew exactly what had to be done. I had to get more
information, new ideas and a new way build and market my Internet Business.
Any of us who tread outside of the zone of comfort and the mundane know that
we will experience failure and possibly great success.
When the success does arrive it's like the sun breaking
through the clouds after a dark and violent storm. It's that pot of gold at
the end of the rainbow. Some have coined it as the "Aha Moment". Dan Kennedy
calls it "The Phenomena". Oprah liked "The Secret". Whatever you call it,
it's that moment you realize that you finally have it right and that you can
create the result you have worked so hard for.
When I started in Internet Marketing there was no tested
or proven formula for success. Many great minds have tackled this subject.
Today you can benefit from the work of the many that have blazed this trail
before you. Just as the western pioneers forged the routes of today's
superhighways you can now travel the distance in a much shorter time by
following their path. These pages offer "The Path" to marketing your
business much like a roadmap. Take a moment to prepare yourself. Your
journey is about to begin.
